glass : art : sculpture

I graduated in Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art in 1981. I spent 20 memorable years overlooking the sea in Argyll. I now live and have a studio outside Glasgow.

I start every day with a walk or cycle, reflecting on the wonders of nature.

A recurrent theme in my work, is to represent the inner beauty of the spiritual mind and body.

I continue to draw regularly, and life drawing is an important inspiration to my work. Over the years, I have learnt new techniques and experimented in various mediums.

Working with glass has reintroduced colour to my work. The pure excitement of the reflective qualities of glass, has fascinated me. Stained glass is treated in a contemporary way, and fused glass has opened up new possibilities in sculpture and stand alone art "neck pieces". I find it hard to stand still, always pushing the boundaries of new ideas. I work in a fairly chaotic manner, and thrive on challenges.
